Scott Bakula Biography
Scott Bakula was born on October 9th, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri to musical parents, he started a rock band by the fourth grade and had even written words to a couple of songs. He later sang with the St. Louis Symphony. Bakula launched his acting career as a teen in regional theater and as a stage actor specializes in musical comedy. After studying Law at the University of Kansas, he made his Broadway debut in Marilyn: An American Fable. He started showing up regularly on television as a guest star on such series as My Sister Sam and Designing Women during the 1980s. He then hit a dry spell with a number of unsuccessful shows. He is perhaps best known for his five seasons on the acclaimed series Quantum Leap, which focuses on a man who traveles from one body to the next throughout history in order to find his own. The role earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in addition to four consecutive Emmy nominations. He also executive produced and starred in the series Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and he produced and starred in the telefilm The Bachelor's Baby. Although he has worked extensively in television, Bakula has also had a number of feature film appearances. Bakula made his feature film debut starring opposite Kirstie Alley in Sibling Rivalry (1990), followed by films like L.A. Story (1991), My Family (1995), Lord of Illusions (1995), American Beauty (1999) and Above Suspicion (2000).
